Mr Alexander Dodds BSc (Hons), MB BCh, MSc, MD (Res), FRCS (Tr and Orth) is a member of the UK register of Expert Witnesses. He is a Medco accredited orthopeadic medico-legal expert offering advice on all aspects of orthopeadic trauma injuries as a result of personal injury including road traffic accidents. He regularly sees clients that have musculoskeletal problems, including fractures of upper and lower limbs in adults and children, soft tissue injuries including whiplash injury and back pain, work-related injuries and repetitive strain injuries. Mr Dodds began writing medical reports during his fellowship year in Australia and undertook a medico-legal report writing course (Specialist Info November 2016) and completed the Medco mandatory training in February 2017. He regularly attends courses to stay abreast of industry changes within the personal injury sector. He is ICO registered and fully insured to £10,000,000. Currently he sees claimants in regular clinics in Cheltenham and Gloucester and prepares on average 12-14 reports per month.

Mr Dodds was appointed as a consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in January 2015. He specialises in Knee and Hip surgery and general Trauma conditions. His trauma practice includes him being part of the busy on call at Gloucestershire Royal and he undertakes regular fracture clinics and trauma lists.
Mr Dodds qualified as a doctor in Cardiff in 2003, receiving a distinction in his finals. He has a first class degree in Anatomy and an MSc in Trauma Surgery (with Merit). The MSc in Trauma Surgery focused on state of the art practical techniques and treatment strategies in Major Trauma. He was awarded his FRCS (Tr and Orth) in 2012 and completed his certificate of completion in training in 2013. Most recently in 2018 Mr Dodds was awarded an MD (Res) from Imperial College. His ground breaking research defining the anterolateral ligament is regularly referenced at international conferences. Other papers have also been published internationally in leading titles such as American Journal of Sports Medicine and the American JBJS. He is the senior author on over 20 research publications, chapters in textbooks and various articles and reviews and his work has been cited 600 times.
Mr Dodds welcomes referrals direct from solicitors who are seeking a fast, impartial and detailed report. Appointments are provided within a month of instruction and provided that the medical records have been sourced, the reports are delivered within ten days of examination. Claimants are offered appointments which then must be confirmed in writing. A non-attendance fee of £50 is charged after the appointment has been confirmed if the claimant fails to attend. Mr Dodds charges £250 per hour. The majority of personal injury reports are charged at £420, complex cases proportionately more based on the hourly fee. Providing records are provided in advance a fixed fee can be agreed upfront. Telephone conferencing is also charged at £250 per hour.
